Meet Our Leaders

Steve Kappes

Steve Kappes is a former career Navy officer, Past President of the San Diego District Tennis Association, and a certified tennis instructor.  He established and leads the District's Military Outreach Committee and directs the Wounded Warrior Tennis Program which he co-founded.  He serves on the Board of Directors for two local tennis organizations, is a member of the USTA’s National Adaptive Tennis Committee, and is the Executive Director of the Racquet Sports Professionals Association's San Diego chapter   

Geoff Griffin

Geoff Griffin was the Tennis Director at Balboa Tennis Club for over 30 years and co-founded the Wounded Warrior Tennis Program.  He leads and coordinates all the on-court instruction and is involved in every aspect of the program.  Geoff has held top leadership positions in several local tennis organizations and currently serves on the Board of Directors for one of them.  Geoff has received dozens of local and national awards for his success as a teaching professional and for his boundless community service.
